If you have been named as a paying parent, you may be able to apply for an exemption from paying child support if you have been the victim of a sex offence.

Gather your information

You will need:

  • your IRD number
  • the name, date of birth or approximate age of the offender
  • the date of court hearing
  • the name of the court where the hearing took place.

Fill in the form or ask someone to fill it out for you and send it to us.

What happens next

We'll contact the New Zealand Police or Ministry of Justice to check the details. We'll let you know the result by mail.

If we decline your application we'll send you a letter telling you why.
